Setup
Where do I put my phone?
On a tripod or in a holder, below or beside the board and out of the line you throw in, so your hand and your darts do not cover the board. Point it at the board as straight as you can: the more sideways it looks, the less accurately it scores. The whole board needs to be in view, with some room around it.
How far from the board should my phone be?
There is no fixed distance: what matters is how big your board is in the picture. If it is small, move your phone closer or zoom in a little. If the board almost fills the picture, zoom out a little, so it stays in view when something shifts.
What do the tips after calibrating mean?
After calibrating, the app looks at the angle your phone sees the board from, how big the board is in the picture, the light and whether your board wobbles. If one of those could be better, you see one tip. It is only a tip: you can always start throwing.
When do I use the zoom?
When your board is small in the picture and you cannot move your phone closer. Minus and plus set the zoom. Do it with an empty board: after zooming, the app finds your board again.
My board or tripod wobbles. Is that a problem?
A little wobble is handled by the app: it notices and takes it into account. The firmer your board and tripod, the more accurately it scores. If your phone really moves, the camera has to find the board again.
What light works best?
Even light across the whole board, without hard shadows. A light ring around the board works best. Bright light that washes out the white areas does not help, and neither does one side that is much darker. If it is too dark, Flash turns on your phone light.
Which boards and darts work?
EasyDart is made and tested on regular bristle boards for steel-tip darts, with the standard 20-segment layout. We have not tested electronic soft-tip boards. Not sure? Your first 5 camera matches are free, so you can see how well it works with your own board and darts before you pay.
Scoring
How well does the camera score?
Not perfectly, and we do not promise that. How well it scores depends on your light, the angle and how big your board is in the picture; the tips above get the most out of it. The hardest are darts right on a wire and darts hidden behind another dart. Automatic scoring is technology, not a referee: if something depends on your match, keep count yourself too.
The camera missed a dart or scored it wrong. What now?
Missed a dart? Add it with one tap. If a score is wrong, tap that dart in the row of three under the picture and pick the right one. If the turn is already over, Adjust is under the score. The score is right again straight away.
Can I score without the camera?
Yes. Manual scoring is always free and unlimited, in every game. Choose Per dart or Dartboard as input and tap in your scores.
Free and Pro
What is free and what comes with Pro?
Free: every game, unlimited manual scoring, your phone's voice as caller and your basic stats. Camera scoring is free for your first 5 matches; that is once, not per month. Pre-register in Google Play and you get 10 more. Pro costs €1.99 per month or €14.99 per year and gives you unlimited camera scoring, all your statistics and the heatmap, the callers Jack, Allison, Henk and Mark (AI voices) and the score on your TV.
I have Pro, but the app says free.
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore purchases: the app asks Google Play again what your account owns. If that does not help, close the app completely and open it again. Do not reinstall the app: that deletes your matches and players, and your purchase comes back just as well with Restore purchases.
How do I cancel Pro?
In Google Play, under Subscriptions. Pro keeps running until the end of the period you already paid for. Changed your mind within 14 days of your first purchase? Mail your order number to support@exosolutions.nl and you get your money back.
Privacy and your TV
Is my camera image stored or sent?
No, unless you say yes to it. The app scores on your phone itself. With Help improve recognition you can send us small crops of your board around a dart, with the score, so we can improve the recognition. That choice is off until you turn it on, is for ages 16 and up, and you can always turn it off again. Everything is in the privacy policy.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account and there are no ads. Your matches, players and settings stay on your phone and move to a new phone with the Android backup.
How do I put the score on my TV?
With Pro. If you have a Chromecast or a TV with Google Cast, tap cast and pick your TV. Without a Chromecast, go to Settings, Score on the TV, to open the score in your TV’s browser.
Is there an iPhone version?
Not yet. EasyDart is for Android 8 or newer, in English, Dutch, German, Spanish and French.
